Lunenburg

Family Reunions

On Wednesday, July 9, the Sampson clan started gathering in Lunenburg., so dinner that night was the first of the grand reunions. Walter Sampson (son of Emma Bissett) and his wife Pat arrived from Michigan; Peter, Walter's eldest son, and his family arrived from New Jersey; and, Caral Giammo, Walter's eldest brother's daughter, and husband Tom arrived from Maryland. They were joined later in the week by Fleur Long, the daughter of Walter's eldest sister. For most of the Samspons, this was their first visit to Lunenburg, and for many, their first visit to Nova Scotia.

On Friday, Tom and Caral Giammo manned the Bissett table at the the Academy as part of the official "Grand Family Reunion". Here many of the Bissetts atttending the Grand Reunion dropped by throughout the day.

On Saturday. about thirty-five Bissetts gathered at the Old Fish Factory to greet, meet and eat. Joining many from the Friday gathering were more Bissetts from California, Halifax and Cole Harbour. From there, many visited Blockhouse Hill for the unveiling of the German Protestant Settlers Monument.
