On 17 June 1953, sixty-five students were graduated from Glen Ridge High School. On 17 and 18 October 2003, forty-one classmates and twenty-five spouses joined in
"A Trip Down Memory Lane" -- the 50th reunion of the class of 1953.
For classmates staying at the Marlboro Inn, the reunion started Friday afternoon at the registration desk and continued in the hospitality room arranged by the Reunion Committee.
Friday night's feature event was the wonderful cocktail party and banquet at the Montclair Golf Club. Seeing all the reunion attendees in one place was stunning and brought home the amazing number of classmates who came to the reunion. The evening's surprise guest was "Doc" Hilton.
Saturday was chock full of informatative and funfilled events starting at 9:30am at the Glen RidgeTrain Station and ending well into the evening at Joan and Bob Page's house. Did you know that about 90% of Glen Ridge is listed on the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places? Sally Meyer, the town historian, described how this was accomplished. A significant part of the process consisted of compiling information on every house in Glen Ridge. This "house file" can be seen at the Glen Ridge Historical Society, of which Sally is the curator. The Reunion ended Saturday night with a wonderful cocktail party at Joan and Bob Hayes house, a fitting end to a memorable weekend..
